Where the work is
Praia da Rocha's hotels and bars carry the evening trade, and the marina and cruise berth add their own arrivals. Alvor is busy through the summer. The autodrome hosts race weekends that fill the town completely and put every driver in the region on the road, so those dates are worth knowing in advance.
What to know about driving here
The climb from the riverside up to Praia da Rocha is short but the streets at the top are narrow and jammed in season. The bridge over the Arade to Ferragudo and Lagoa is the pinch point on that side. Faro airport is roughly an hour away, which makes transfers the long, worthwhile fares here.
