What to know about driving here
The gradients are severe — some streets are steep enough that an underpowered or heavily loaded vehicle will struggle, and that is worth taking seriously before choosing what to drive. The VR1 expressway runs along the coast and is the only quick way east or west. Parking in the old town is very limited.
